Grunting at machines

At the recent Google I/O keynote, Google gave one of the best demos I’ve seen in a while. While showing a new AI feature called “Help me write”, the presenter typed a message to his boss so incoherent, he was either drunk or pretending to be a neanderthal.

Google’s AI easily took this caveman-like jumble of words and turned it into a coherent, civilized email. A miracle of engineering and a harbinger of our future: grunting and howling around the monolith again.

Remember the good ol’ days when our biggest worry was that texting might ruin our spelling?
