Learning programming: Honeymoon is over

Got my ass handed to me today. Spent six hours trying to fetch a set of names from a database and show them in a list… and still failed. What the tutorials are showing isn't working and most of the documentation still looks like hieroglyphics to me.

I'm just over 100 hours into learning and can feel the honeymoon period ending. Feels like I'm entering the vast desert of mediocrity.
